Ik heb ze eigenlijk ook helemaal niet zelf geschreven. Ik hield alleen de pen vast, 's Nachts je bed uitgaan, een pen zoeken en iets om op te schrijven, daar iets op krabbelen om de volgende ochtend erachter te komen dat je een gedichtje hebt geschreven... in het Engels... op rijm... En dat het gedichtje helemaal past bij een serie schilderijtjes die je jaren ervoor maakte na je transplantatie. Dat ging toen eigenlijk op dezelfde wijze. De gedichtjes bleven komen, soms op de gekste momenten, en zo kreeg elk schilderijtje uit de serie een verhaal. Soms is wat je ontvangt niet om te houden, maar om te delen.

Biografie

After her career at the United Nations and the hotel industry, Monique X. Jonk (1974) was forced to stop working due to illness. But where one door closes, another one opens. After her life-saving transplant, she began creating paintings guided purely by intention. Later, through automatic writing, poems came to her - uncannily aligning with her artwork. This unexpected harmony between words and images fueled a deep need to share them.
