This book started as a list. Numbers, minutes, calories, messages. Things I wanted to remember before they would disappear. Somewhere between all that counting, it turned into something else. There are poems here about cooking too much, waiting for messages that never come, Googling symptoms, counting seconds, and pretending it’s all fine. They’re small snapshots of daily life— things that could have stayed random, but became something else just by paying attention. It’s not a sad book. It laughs first, then says something honest, when no one is watching. Every poem is a small accident, and put all together, they almost make sense.

Biografie

Mher Brutyan (1995) is an actor, performer, and the author of Very Serious Poetry. Originally trained at the Mime School in Amsterdam, he spent years on stage before turning to writing. What began as a series of short notes, observations, and half-sentences slowly grew into a distinct style: simple, sharp, and rooted in the small details of daily life. His work has appeared at festivals such as De Parade and the Amsterdam Fringe, BANGS festival, where he blends performance, humor, and text. The past two years, he has focused intensively on poetry, using numbers, routine, food, waiting, and the awkward corners of modern life as his raw material. Brutyan’s writing captures ordinary moments and turns them into something you can feel: direct, funny, unpolished, and unmistakably his.
